Pool Cover Sensor Error – Causes, Diagnosis and Solution

Are you receiving the error message Sensor Error on your pool cover control system? This means that the control unit is not receiving a valid signal from the sensor of the pool cover motor. For safety reasons, the motor is stopped, and the pool cover can no longer open or close correctly.

Possible Causes

The Sensor Error message can have several causes:

• Defective position sensor inside the motor.
• Damaged or interrupted sensor cable.
• Loose or oxidised connector.
• Moisture in the motor or connections.
• Incorrect sensor configuration in the control unit.
• Defective motor electronics.
• Damaged wiring between the motor and the control unit.
• Outdated control software (in some older systems).

Symptoms

• The pool cover does not move at all.
• The motor starts briefly and stops immediately.

When Is the Motor Defective?
